I have been involved with raising, showing and training dogs most of my life. The youngest of five children, my family raised Shelties and showed in both 4-H and AKC. My mom was the Kansas 4-H Dog Project President, and I became a Jr. Leader at the state level. I also was awarded the National 4-H Dog Project Award for my leadership. I beg
I have been involved with raising, showing and training dogs most of my life. The youngest of five children, my family raised Shelties and showed in both 4-H and AKC. My mom was the Kansas 4-H Dog Project President, and I became a Jr. Leader at the state level. I also was awarded the National 4-H Dog Project Award for my leadership. I began to judge many 4-H shows including many years at the Kansas State Fair. Fast forward to marriage and kids, I was our local 4-H Dog Leader/Trainer and also became the Kansas 4-H Dog Project President and managed the State Fair Dog Show, for many years, just like my mom. I created project curriculum, helped to manage the annual conference, and other state dog events. My kids were both introduced to the 4-H Dog Project and we fell in love with Golden Retrievers as our breed of choice and had a couple of litters in those days. Eventually my family moved to Iowa and family and career took over. Although we had dogs that were integral parts of our family, I no longer was involved in breeding, training and showing. Now, with the kids gone and missing my old hobby, I began the task of becoming involved in the world of dogs again by researching and purchasing quality, fully health-tested and well-bred Golden Retrievers! I got back into the show ring for the first time in over 30 years recently, have begun training my dogs for Canine Good Citizenship and am eyeing obedience competition again. Preserving the Golden Retriever breed is of utmost importance to me, and I am excited to bring quality, healthy and even temperament pups into the world for families to love as much as I do. Every single puppy has a piece of my heart!

"Our puppy was born January 2022, he is smart, loving and a goofball. He is everything we wanted and more. He easily learned to use “talking” buttons and communicate with them. He lets us know with the buttons if he needs outside, is hungry, wants to play, needs help or just wants love. He has also learned to click on the names of family members when he is thinking about them. He’s not destructive and has never destroyed a toy or household object.
Donna at Starbright has had outings for our pup with his siblings and even a Halloween party where they wore costumes. She stays in contact with us in case we have any questions about his care and training. She truly loves all of the pups and gives them great care before they find their forever homes. These pups are cared for in the home of Donna and she spends quality time with them to socialize and be well adjusted when they leave her care.

"Where do I even begin?! Donna has been wonderful from the moment I first messaged her. Our breeding dogs are tested for all Orthopedic Foundation for Animals clearances as suggested for Golden Retrievers through responsible breeding practices. Our intent is always to better the breed through our testing and breeding practices.
Our dogs are tested for all Orthopedic Foundation for Animals clearances including:
- Heart - OFA Advanced Cardiac with Heart Auscultation and Echocardiograms completed by a canine heart specialist
- Hips - OFA Radiograph Findings
- Elbows - OFA Radiograph Findings
- Eyes - Yearly test for OFA eye clearances

Lucy is the second sweetest dog I have ever owned and is well loved. She is our good girl! She is extremely chill and calm and her favorite place to be is at the end of the couch or on the bed cuddling with one of her family members! She is 68# with a square but petite head and frame and good pigment. She is very light with a slightly darker golden color on her ears. She has a nice coat with fringe and feathers. An interesting thing about Lucy is that from a very early age she enjoyed watching television, especially when there are dogs and other animals on. She literally has memorized the music from commercials with dogs and other animals and when a one of these commercial starts, no matter where she is, she will run to the tv to watch it. She has been known to watch certain movies for their entirety and loves animated movies. Lucy especially loves watching dog shows! Her second favorite activity is getting a dog toy from her much larger companion, Ricky, and then sashaying around the chair while he follows her trying to get it back. It is her way of saying, “look at me”! Finally, she is an amazing and sensitive mom. When her pups cry, she actually whimpers also. It touches my heart when she does this. Lucy has amazing hip scores ranking her in the top 90% of Golden Retrievers with DI of .37 (right) and .35 (left). Ricky is our “character". He makes us laugh non-stop as is always up to some antics. Whether it is sneaking a sock in his mouth so far that we can’t see it onlly to run off and chew it up, to giving us giant bear hugs, to barking when he thinks he needs a treat, to chasing tennis balls until he is too tired to move, he is always on the go and lets us know when he needs something. We always say he is the cuddliest and most affectionate dog we have ever owned because his favorite thing to do is cuddle in bed and literally lays on our chest with his head on us and sleeps. Additionally, he is very handsome with a beautiful square frame and big blocky head. He is very light in coloring and has nice dark pigment. He is our International and Natiional Champion and got me back in the show ring after 20+ years. He has also passed his Canine Good Citizen certification. Ricky was bred by Sleepy Morning Goldens and has an incredible pedigree of health tested and gorgeous champions! Ricky has remarkable hip scores ranking him in the top 90% of all Golden Retrievers with DI of .32 (right) and .36 (left). Maise is out of Lucy's first litter and her sire is Int.CH Navilis Ivanhoe (Moose) from Sleepy Morning Goldens. She is the sweetest girl we have ever owned (with her mama Lucy being the second). Maisie is a petite girl but has a nice head and level topline with beautiful dark pigment. Maisie is a big cuddler and will nudge her way around the other dogs to make sure she is the absolute closest to us that she can be. She loves attention! Maisie's favorite thing to do is to go for walks. She gets so excited when I put on my walking shoes and the leash comes out. Maisie also has to have a toy in her mouth at all times. That is the retriever in her! Another interesting thing about her is that she never barks. Maisie excels in obedience. We plan to show her this fall.

Maggie is out of Lucy's second litter of Golden Retrievers and her sire is our handsome Ricky. Maggie is not only beautiful but also is our smart girl! Maggie lives in Boone and serves as a trained service dog. She has learned to assist her owner with retrieving items needed, walking at his pace, and being his best companion. She goes everywhere he goes. Maggie has earned her CGC, CGCA, CGCUSM certifications and her owner plans to continue her obedience training throughout her life. They are a pleasure to see and it is amazing how dogs help us in so many ways.
